Julie Anderson spent this past Mother's Day in an Omaha emergency room.

It was around midnight on May 12 when Anderson received a call that her 17-year-old granddaughter had been shot once in each thigh at a high school graduation party, and had been taken by ambulance to Nebraska Medical Center some 20 miles from Anderson's home.
